About

A Nigerian engineering company, working where the conditions are hard

Cipher4 AI & Robotics Ltd builds software platforms and robotic systems for operations that cannot afford to stop. We are based in Abuja, with offices in Lagos and Kaduna, and our engineers go to site.

Focus

Four sectors, and we say no to the rest

Transport, logistics, oil and gas, and supply chain. That is the whole list. They share the same hard problems: high-value assets in difficult places, restricted access, and compliance regimes that punish poor records. Depth in them is worth more to a client than a longer list of industries.

We turn down work outside those four. Not out of principle, but because the value we bring comes from having seen the same problem before, and outside these sectors we have not.

How we work

Three commitments we will be held to

We look before we quote

Every engagement starts with our engineers walking the operation. A scope written from a meeting room is a scope that gets revised twice at your cost.

We tell you when you are wrong

If a client asks for something we think will not work, we put the objection in writing. Occasionally that costs us the job. It has never cost us a client.

We stay after handover

Systems that get abandoned were usually handed over badly. We train the people who will live with it and document it for the engineer who inherits it.

The team

Engineers who mobilise

The difference between a good demonstration and a system that survives a year offshore is almost always whether anyone on the build team has worked in those conditions. Ours have.

Disciplines in-house

  • Robotics and mechatronics
  • Embedded and firmware
  • Backend and platform engineering
  • Data engineering and analytics
  • Field and commissioning engineering
  • Network and infrastructure

Personnel deployed offshore hold current BOSIET or equivalent certification and valid offshore medicals. We do not mobilise anyone who does not.

How we conduct ourselves

Policy positions, stated plainly

These hold whether or not a certificate is on the wall. Formal certification status is on the credentials page.

Health, safety and environment

Our engineers mobilise to terminals, yards, vessels and offshore installations. We work inside the client’s permit-to-work system, attend the client’s site induction, and follow the client’s HSE procedures without exception.

Personnel deployed offshore hold current BOSIET or equivalent certification and valid offshore medicals. We will not mobilise anyone who does not.

We hold stop-work authority as a principle: any Cipher4 engineer may halt an activity they judge unsafe, and will be supported for doing so.

Information and operational technology security

We connect to operational networks on a read-only basis by default. Where write access is genuinely required, it is scoped, logged and agreed in writing first.

Integrations are segmented from control systems. We do not place anything in the path of a safety function.

Access is least-privilege and individually attributed. Shared credentials are not used on client systems.

Client operational data belongs to the client. We will state data ownership, retention and deletion terms in the contract, and we will support export at any point.

Quality and delivery

Every deployment has written acceptance criteria agreed before build starts. Acceptance is a test against those criteria, not an opinion.

Systems are handed over with documentation written for the engineer who inherits them, not for the one who built them.

We tell clients when we think a requested approach is wrong, and we put the recommendation in writing.

Business conduct

Cipher4 does not offer, pay, solicit or accept bribes, facilitation payments or kickbacks, in any form, in any jurisdiction.

We disclose conflicts of interest in tender processes we participate in.

Our people are instructed to decline gifts or hospitality that could reasonably be seen to influence a commercial decision.

The first conversation costs nothing and usually clarifies the problem even when it does not lead to a project.
